Can you imagine being in absolute chaos…grocery shopping on a Saturday, horns honking and people shouting in a traffic backup, being jostled by angry and impatient commuters on a crowed bus…and yet have none of it affect you as you bask in your own little paradise in your mind?
Meditation is literally regarded as a health tool by countless people across the globe, including health professionals. It’s thought of as an exercise used to strengthen the mind towards peace and quiet. Any moms out there?
Meditation can be described as an intense, laser-focused attention. It’s the ability to stop the constant barrage of new information, the mind’s assimilation of it and the processing of old information. Through meditation, one can clear the mind of the clutter: the sensations to the outside world as well as the non-stop thoughts and feelings (or perceptions) that is necessary to function within life and interact with other living beings.
The studied physiological effects of meditation have swayed even the skeptics that there’s a mind-body connection. It visibly reduces the body’s response to stress and the health benefits of meditation are enormous.
So, what’s the verdict? Do you think your mind is a muscle that deserves as much exercise and attention as the other muscles in your body?
