The 12 Days of Holiday Health

written by Head Health Nutter December 23, 2007

So it only took an office holiday party, about 6 hours of shopping, gift wrapping, and four goodie recipes to get me into the spirit of the season. Now the cheer is coursing through my veins and I gotta let it out!

Here is a little ditty for you to share with your loved ones (I wouldn’t suggest singing it…my song writing needs work):

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

1 bottle of acidophilus tablets (to keep gut flora in balance)

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

2 lemons cut into wedges (for cleansing pints of warm lemon water every morning)

On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

3 yummy recipes (to bond with family as we create delicious & healthy food)

On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

4 dozen freshly baked cookies and treats (to share as gifts)

On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

5 different natural ways to relieve stress (stretching, tea, sleep, exercise & deep breathing)

On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

6 people to visit (nothing says holidays like social time)

On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

7 ways to say, “No, thank you” (sometimes it’s just too much)

On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

8 entertaining stories to tell (everybody loves stories!)

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

9 lessons learned over the year (great time for reflection…and help in deciding on what resolutions to tackle for the New Year)

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

10 brightly red painted nails (with my green Santa hat – my inner child craves fun!)

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

11 things in your life you are grateful for (feeling good about what you have already sets the stage for receiving more of what you want)

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

12 ideas of fun things to do over the holidays while visiting family (e.g. card games, handy-man projects, snowy walks, an adventure out to see all the lights, sledding, caroling (hmmm…?), a hockey game, video games, cooking, baking, movies and board games.)

Hope this lists helps you and your loved ones truly be in the present and enjoy the holidays more fully.

Wishing you all the best health and well-being during the holidays!
