Mother’s Day Present: Hope for Healing

written by Head Health Nutter May 9, 2010

Moms are very special creatures. The embodiment of love and nurturing, mothers often sacrifice their own health & well-being to fulfill the needs of their families. For today’s post, in honour of all the mother’s out there, I’d like to give us all hope for healing.

Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days follows a group of American diabetics during their month-long raw and living food journey to heal their bodies. This inspiring documentary features raw food advocates like Woody Harrelson, success coach Tony Robbins, Michael Beckwith from The Secret and Morgan Spurlock from Super Size Me.

Here’s the 5 minute trailer (be prepared to shed a tear or two!):

UPDATE 2017: this video is no longer available.

Watching this trailer, it’s easy for me to imagine how a raw food plan can heal more than just diabetes, a condition affecting more than 246 million people worldwide.

Remember how your Mom would make you eat all your veggies before you were able to enjoy dessert? Or how she insisted that you have a healthy breakfast before leaving for school?

Mom didn’t insist on these things simply to be overbearing and controlling. This is how she showed her love and nurtured us. She was teaching us how to take care of ourselves and our health!

Although Mom will always look out for our best interests as long as they live, when we grow up, we have to be our own mom. Living a healthy lifestyle is one of the best ways to show self-love and provide self-nurturing.

Simply Raw is a documentary that gives us all hope for healing through the simple acts of love and nurturing ourselves. Happy Mother’s Day!
