When it comes to losing weight, the truth is there are no shortcuts. There are two basic principles you have to abide by if you want to get back in shape: eat healthier meals and work out. And yet some people claim that they can’t get slim even if they adhere to these two principles. How can that be?
Believe it or not, food is not the sole cause of people’s weight gain. There are other causes including stress, insomnia, lack of certain vitamins & minerals, dehydration and more. To combat these causes and help you regain your slim physique try out the following natural remedies for weight loss:
Blood sugar directly impacts people’s weight. It affects your energy and hunger levels. That being said, one should know that unbalanced blood sugar levels leads to a large appetite. Cinnamon tea can help cut back on that appetite. Preliminary studies on the matter have found that cinnamon might assist in the management of blood sugar levels.
The tea is quite easy to make. All you need is: 1 tbs. of ground cinnamon, 8 oz. of water and 1 cinnamon stick. Ditch the sugar, and if you really feel the need to make your tea sweeter, opt for natural honey instead.
Ginger and green tea
Green tea has been an effective weight loss treatment for many years now. Due to potent ingredients such as catechins, caffeine and theanine, green tea boosts your system and speeds up the metabolism. Catechins are antioxidants which can help decrease lipid (fat) absorption through the intestinal tract. Theanine is an amino acid that boosts dopamine release, which also means that green tea is an excellent anti-stress remedy.
As for ginger, when added into green tea it makes it more favorable. In case you didn’t know this, green tea is really bitter without sugar; and sugar is forbidden when you’re trying to lose weight.
Pay more attention to hydration
A lot of people gain weight because they don’t drink enough water. And when you’re not drinking enough water your body feels bloated and your digestive system has to suffer; on top of everything, you’re not digesting properly the food you eat on a daily basis.
Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. Make sure you drink a glass before every meal. This way you’ll eat less, feel better and you won’t exceed your recommended caloric dosage.
Enjoy the great effects of sage
Many of us are stressed these days, and stress is a main cause for weight gain. Because the human body was not created to handle stress, the effects can be devastating. When we’re under duress, the body releases a steroid hormone called cortisol. Cortisol affects blood sugar levels, and therefore our appetite. Instead of consuming the energy accumulated, we store it as fat.
An excellent way to ward off stress and maintain your normal weight is to include sage into your daily regimen. Make yourself a sage tea with boiled water and lemon. It will calm your nerves by combating stress levels.
Peppermint & Dandelion
Peppermint and dandelion tea is an exquisite drink that helps keep your liver in a healthy state. In case you didn’t know it already, the liver is a fabulous organ. It detoxifies your entire body and it is a vital part from all our metabolic processes, thus having a direct effect on weight.
As far as fat metabolism is concerned, the liver is made of cells that are in charge of breaking down fats and convert them into energy. A tea made of peppermint and dandelion contains heap-protection constituents; these help prevent damage to your liver. This combination of herbs stimulates bile production, thus helping with the absorption of nutrients.
How far would you go to get back in shape? We live in a world packed with tempting food varieties. Most of these varieties are unhealthy. We don’t exercise because we don’t have time, and on weekends we prefer to sleep in rather than go for a walk.
A sedentary lifestyle is one of the main causes for weight gain. Fortunately, there are natural remedies you can turn to if you want to look good. Whether we’re talking about herbal teas, exercise or healthy food, one thing’s for sure: you’ll never lose weight unless you change your current routine.
