Have you ever tried a diet for health or weight loss that someone swore worked for them but did absolutely butkis for you? It might be because you have a different body type than they do!
Since we’ve been posting this week on cleansing for weight loss and health, I thought we should end the short series with a reminder: Everyone is different. For instance, while increasing fruits & veggies works incredibly well for me, my Honey finds that there’s only so much of these healthy foods his body can handle.
After watching one of the latest episodes on The Renegade Health Show, “Which Diet is Best for Your Body Type,” I understand better why this is so. Here’s a 10 minute interview with Dr. Gabriel Cousens on the importance of regaining a healthy internal balance through diet by identifying your body type (see above).
The body types Dr. Cousens refers to in the video are from the 5,000-year-old medical system from ancient India known as Ayurveda (a Sanskrit word meaning: `science of life’).
Most people have all three body types (Vata, Pitta & Kapha) but vary in how much of each, which gives individuals their uniqueness. Plus, a person’s body type usually changes over time and with different circumstances.
If you’d like to read more about Ayurveda, find out your specific body type (currently) and incorporate the knowledge into your life for more balance and health, I highly recommend Dr. Deepak Chopra‘s book, Perfect Health: The Complete Mind Body Guide.
Do you use Ayurvedic medicine to achieve health & wellness? What body type are you and is it working?
