About

Live Lighter is a holistic health blog for those who recognize the benefits of health and want the freedom that comes from achieving total life balance.

Live Lighter aims to arm you with a variety of reliable information on natural health & wellness. What you find on these pages will help you create your own personalized health solutions so you can live your life more joyfully by releasing unwanted, heavy “baggage” accumulated since birth.

Our mission is to show you that getting healthy can be easy and fun. And the more you enjoy the process, you’ll see better and longer-lasting results, faster.

How can we make such fantastic claims?

As the author of Live Lighter, I’ve done it – a few times and counting! When I started the blog in 2007, I had in one year shed 43 extra poundage and 43 inches. I was living a fairly balanced life, continued to lose weight until I reached 21% body fat and managed to maintain it for three years.

(Funny enough, though, the weight-loss revealed other health issues and since then I’ve been investigating natural health for ways to heal myself.)

This past year I experienced a wonderful life transition (I bought my first house with my Honey) but unfortunately it didn’t quite go as smoothly as I would have liked. With added responsibilities, normal life stresses and my daily (healthy!) routine turned upside down (we’re in the middle of renovating, by the way), my self-care practices took a back-burner.

This is a blessing in disguise, though, because for awhile there, I forgot how intimidating and overwhelming it can be to create a healthy living habit! So here I go again, using some of what I already know and looking for other ways to find balance.

Perhaps we can find our way together if we jive with one another?

The Live Lighter philosophy includes:

  • Everyone is unique and has their own health journey to experience. We respect that what works for one person may not work for another.
  • Weight Loss is a natural and permanent by-product of living a healthy lifestyle.
  • Nature has incredible healing powers and while results may take a little longer than they do from traditional medicine, they’re typically more sustainable with little to no side-effects.
  • Knowledge is power. The idea is to understand as much as we can about how nature functions, including us, so we can work with it rather than against it.

What you can expect on Live Lighter:

We share a ton of information on food & nutrition, cleansing & detoxing, getting physical, addiction, consciousness, as well as other healthy suggestions and lifestyle tips. To help you more practically, we have an ever-growing inventory of yummy, healthy recipes, including tasty smoothies and allergy-friendly meals.

Do you like diversity of info and style? Live Lighter features an assortment of guest bloggers, including the author of Spice Up Your Life, Bindu Grandhi. Not to mention product reviews, interviews and helpful post series, like The 2010 TV Detox, Health Made Easy and Get a Bodacious Beach Bod!

The post schedule is currently 3 times per week:

  1. Tuesday posts feature specialty natural health & wellness content unique to Live Lighter, including articles from guest bloggers!
  2. Thursday posts are industry-related news, interviews and reviews on books, articles, products and places.
  3. Saturday posts include alternating healthy recipes and videos.

Hi!

I am a stay-at-home mom who enjoys publishing guest posts. I think it is a great way to support sites that are doing good work, meet new people, and get my name & work out there.

I have been recently enjoying reading your blog and have gotten some great health tips. I would like to contribute to your site with a guest post about the benefits of adding turmeric to your diet.

I can get you an article (with original pictures) ASAP, and then you can decide if it’ll work for your site.

Alternatively, if you have an article idea that you would like written about, let me know. I am pretty versatile when it comes to writing.

Thanks! I hope to hear back from you soon.

Best Regards,
Catie

Hi LIve Lighter!
I am wondering if you do product reviews on your blog? I have a new and healthy granola snack that I would love you to try. The product is sold in Sprouts and Whole Foods and is a great snack for kids and families on the go. If you are interested, I would love to send you a sample to try, what is a good mailing address to send to?
Thank you.

Dear Fellow Healers,

I want to begin by telling you I thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog and exploring your site. You encourage the public to trust in oneself, in nature and in God. This beautiful belief system is imperative for healthy living and Spiritual growth.

I believe consciousness is shifting in a holistic direction; people are realizing it’s time to return to nature to resolve physical and emotional aliments just as the way God intended. It is my belief people are tired of feeling pressure from exclusive western medicine doctors and drug companies to imbibe in medications that simply do not heal effectively!

I believe it is people such as yourself and the company I represent which encourage the public to do their own research regarding their health before taking an anti-biotic or pain pill. Studies suggest the body has the capabilities to heal itself given the”right” conditions: proper diet, quality hydration, exercise and Spirituality.

Alkaline ionized water is a natural source of water the way water should be consumed, without all the unnecessary chemicals and acidic properties. Water that has been ionized is extremely hydrating; the molecule is actually smaller so that it permeates the bodies’ cells more efficiently. The additional oxygen delivered to the body results in a surge of natural energy and healing.

I work for Chanson Water, a company that manufactures and sells healing water machines. In no way am I selling you a product, unless of course you are interested in purchasing one! I am simply asking you to blog to your readers about Alkaline water, particularly Chanson Water. I want to get the public talking about the fast growing field of healing water technology to prevent disease and promote health consciousness.

I believe the American public is diseased and sick due to many preventable factors: de-hydration, over-acidity of the body and premature oxidation. Sadly people believe they are consuming “clean and healthy” drinking water from a filtered source or bottle; this is a fallacy that is causing more harm than good. It is my mission to educate the public about the healing properties of ionized water to the best of my abilities. I am asking for your help because there is no better way to create something meaningful than by aligning with someone of experience. You are a blogger who has earned the trust of your readers by your experience in the Holistic Healing Arts field.

I understand you may not consider yourself a water “expert”. That is why I am here for you to act as your consultant should you feel this is a project you are interested in. You could even post a question to your readers regarding Alkaline water: Who knows anything about Alkaline water? Post your comments here! Any discussion of healing water is better than ignorance. I do hope you believe this is a fight worth fighting and you will see tremendous grow on your blog and benefit your many readers.

Please review our website: http://www.chansonwater.com for more information, videos, and a free water consultation!

Aloha,
Jessica

Hi,

I was doing some online research yesterday and happened to go through your site as well. I was really amazed by the rich and informative contents that your site provides.

I am a professional content writer in an electronic cigarette company. We are trying to aware people regarding the green smoke which is not harmful at all and will help them to quit smoke eventually.

I really want to do something beneficial for you which can make your site much more interesting. It would be great if I can write an article for your site on a topic related to green smoke. The article will be 100% original and will always be published in your site. In return It would be great if you can provide me couple of back links for the same niche sites.

Waiting for your positive response.

Regards,
Tamara Matthews

hi, hb, thanks for your question. The health experts suggest that 1 kilo or 2 pounds per week is healthy and realistic. Only YOU know what you and your body is capable of, however.

If you read Live Lighter on a regular basis, you’ll know that I advocate adopting a healthy lifestyle (where permanent weight loss and healthy weight management is the side-effect) over focusing on losing weight.

Hope this helps you along your health journey! Steph 🙂
