6 Foods That Naturally Detoxify the Body

Sometimes, when too much unhealthy and toxic food has been consumed, you find yourselves looking for ways to cleanse your body of them. Thankfully, nature has provided the best natural detoxifiers. Eating these foods will help return your body to a healthy state.

1. Garlic
Garlic is known for its antibacterial and antiviral properties. Another useful property of garlic is its capability to detox the body of harmful substances. It supports plenty of liver enzymes, the body’s ability to produce glutathione, and other factors. It is also high in Vitamin C, which is essential for the immune system and supports the liver. It also helps get rid of free-radicals that may affect premature aging, cancer and heart diseases.

2. Beets
Beets are a great for detoxing the liver. They effectively remove toxins and other harmful substances from it to help it function better. These toxins are usually the culprits for initiating different illnesses and diseases of the liver. Beets are also high in anti-oxidants that contains betaine, betalaines, fiber, iron, betacyanin, folate, and betanin. They also contain pectin, which is a kind of fiber, that effectively gets rid of the toxins that were removed from the liver, to be flushed out of the body.

3. Grapefruit

The seeds of the grapefruit have antimicrobial properties and are full of antioxidants. They can be incorporated with any detox mixes to help get rid of bacteria, fungus and even parasites. 4. Seeds and Nuts
Seeds, like sunflower seeds, are high in selenium and Vitamin E. They are also effective in liver detox and prevent the build-up of cholesterol in the blood and arteries too. Nuts, like walnuts, are packed with healthy omega-3 fatty acids, which are great detoxifiers as well. Other seeds like chia, are also very rich in antioxidant which are important in cell protection and toxin elimination. They also contain soluble fiber, iron, calcium, manganese and phosphorus, which are all essential for the body. Nuts like almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, pecans, macadamia, pistachio and pine nuts are also great detox foods as well.

5. Ginger
Ginger is a great anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer and antioxidant. It effectively detoxifies the body by stimulating digestion, sweating and circulation to flush out harmful substances out of the body. The digestive action that ginger produces may help flush out the build-up of waste products that may be toxic to the body. Once the body is detoxified, it can function optimally. Ginger’s power may be from its high concentration of gingerol and shoga, which are anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory in nature.

6. Lemons
Lemons are not only great for Teeth Whitening and promote fresher breath, but also as a detox agent. Some people mix it with warm water to improve digestion, increase mineral absorption, and effectively detoxify the body. It contains d-limonene, which activates liver enzymes that are essential for liver detoxification. Lemon is a citrus fruit, so it is naturally rich in Vitamin C, which boosts the immune system and prevents colds and flu. It is also a natural diuretic, which helps flush out toxins and harmful substances from the urinary tract. Lemons do not detoxify the body alone, but also the mind. It is known to avoid depression and anxiety too.
