by Head Health Nutter on March 2, 2016

If you’re like me, you’re always needing a little more “me time.” This is especially true for most women, as we are known to be the nurturers and put other’s needs before our own. I’m super happy to present today’s guest article by blogger, Kate Funk, as she imparts some very useful advice in how to make more time for YOU.

I bet most of us want to get away for holiday, would like to watch a movie or love to write a novel, but can’t do all this because of time. Yes, the one thing that is always in demand and never increases. The truth is, we all have the same amount of time. The only difference is how we utilize the little time we have. Although technology has advanced immensely, nothing has been done to curb time wastage.

time for yourselfThe secret however lies in the person themselves. It is all about evaluating trends that are less useful and focusing on the ones that are more fruitful. In this article, I am going to give you 5 incredible pointers to help you create more time for yourself.

Take a Time Out

This may sound weird but it is the most important step in reclaiming your time. This entails taking time out from your busy daily schedule to reflect on your life. You can take an hour off your schedule or even an entire weekend (this will be awesome) to reflect on your life. Is this how you planned your life to be? Are you happy with where you’re at? What can you do to improve your state? By evaluating yourself first, you get to know how to plan your time better. You can also find out what you enjoy doing but have little time for it and plan to create more time for it.

Find Your Time Wasters

After taking time to think over your life, it’s now time to get to work. While trying to find your time wasters, come up with a list of essentials. Thereafter, single out the things that you spend most time on and critically analyze them to see if they really are necessary or not. More often, people do things randomly thinking that they are essential. However, by giving thought on the activity, you can decide whether it is necessary or a time waster. It is of utter importance to take notice of these time wasters and try as much as possible to avoid them.

Schedule your Time

Having a clear and simple schedule is the secret to creating more time for yourself. This is a very important part of a busy individual. While reflecting on your life, take a blank week schedule and eliminate time wasters that are irrelevant. Integrate your schedule with a calendar and see for yourself how much time you can free. It’s amazing how you can simply reduce both the hassle of the day’s work and at the same time create more time for yourself by having a proper working schedule. More so, you will get to do the things you love most that you had no time for before. However, it is paramount that you stick to your schedule vehemently in order to avoid loosing more time. One can utilize internet tools that are compatible with mobile devices to successfully achieve this. The benefit of using such tools is that you will be notified promptly on tasks that you have to undertake anywhere you are.

Consolidate

Even after scheduling your time, it is important to further consolidate the tasks that you do. It goes without saying that life is a turmoil of activities. You will need to wake up early, prepare breakfast, check your mails, take a shower… the list goes on. Simply living can be a tedious process that consumes a lot of time. However, when some of the tasks are consolidated, you can save a lot of time so that you can spend on other things you love. A good example is checking your mails. Ensure to complete checking and replying on the ones that are necessary. Do not check your mails in the morning then repeat the same process during lunch again by replying to messages.

Learn to Say, “No”

This one is the most difficult for many people, especially when its about having a good time. It is therefore important to stick to your schedule and avoid any temptations to break the schedule. This can also be achieved by sticking to your principles of sticking to your set schedule. If anything is not in your schedule, say, “no” to it. You can also go further to cut out such distractions as friends in order to minimize chances of interrupting your schedule and maximizing on saving time for yourself.
