In our last post, we mentioned beating stress with meditation to create a healthier you in 2016. Today’s article by guest blogger, Brooke Chaplan, will give you 5 ways to beat stress physically!
It’s a new year, and that means a new you. As you put the goodies away and start up a healthier lifestyle, it can be challenging trying to figure out which healthy lifestyle you want to follow. Luckily, there are five options this year that work perfectly for bidding goodbye to those unwanted extra pounds and will fit seamlessly into your life.
Biking is an activity that combines cardio and weights by using the pull of your own body a way to develop strong legs. Ride outside, ride indoors, or join a spin class. There are so many options. You can even nab yourself some competative cyclist coupons to try out team cycling or invest in dirt bike gear for a more challenging form of this amazing exercise.
If you want a body like fitness models do, you have to lift weights. Pushing and lifting are great ways to burn a lot of calories without feeling like your heart is going to explode. It also promotes muscle growth and fat loss. Other benefits include stronger bones, a better posture, and a faster metabolism.
If weights and bikes aren’t your thing, running is a tried and true favorite that is simple to start doing and cheap. As an exercise, you can choose to take it slow, sprint, or otherwise challenge your speed and distance. It’s also a great way to balance out hormone levels while keeping the heart healthy.
If you don’t necessarily enjoy sweating, swimming is the sport for you. Because you’re surrounded by water, you’ll never feel yourself drenched in perspiration. Unlike running, swimming activates virtually every muscle in your body, including the upper body.
HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)
Of the cardio exercises, High Intensity Interval Training is the best for burning off fat in the shortest period of time. It consists of low intensity periods of rest interspersed throughout high intensity exercises. According to professionals, only 30 to 45 minutes is enough to do the trick.
You don’t have to wait until your resolution sets in to start losing weight. The important thing is to find an exercise you enjoy doing. That way, when the excitement finally wears off, you’ll still have fun at the gym. Just remember to adjust your diet as well. In no time you’ll be in the best shape of your life.
